The approach we use in our practice is called evidence based medicine. One common definition of evidence based medicine is:
Evidence based medicine (EBM) is the conscientious, explicit, judicious and reasonable use of modern, best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients. EBM integrates clinical experience and patient values with the best available research information.
So what does this all mean for you?
First, this means that we adopt this approach as the underlying philosophy of our practice. It is therefore the basis how all the clinicians work; doctors, psychologists, physiotherapists and so on.
Second, it means that we are all aware of the latest research in the field of chronic pain, and we use that to inform all our decision making. As part of this our team regularly attending conferences and professional development, and we discuss recent research as part of our team meetings.
Third, our team have the skills, knowledge and experience to understand how to use evidence based treatments to get the best outcomes for you.
Finally, we always make sure that your needs, wants and personal values about life and your health are considered in our decision making.
